Background
The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) is the ministerial department responsible for policy and regulations on environmental, food and rural issues, supported by 35 agencies and public bodies. DEFRA and its agencies use numerous IT applications and systems with a wide range of levels of dependency and criticality. Whilst it has in place IT business continuity, it does not have formal contractual Disaster Recovery provisions for its key managed applications provided by its outsourced IT partner.
The Requirement
DEFRA sought a supplier via G-Cloud that could review and validate the existing business continuity and disaster recovery provisions and recommend cost-effective mitigating measures using Cloud based disaster recovery solutions.
The Approach
Marathon used a standards based approach, which means taking reference from ISO, ITIL and industry best practise standards. Client assignments of this nature are approached by assigning a team of technical and business information technology experts, who together will provide expert input and internal quality control to assure the service. For this assignment Marathon designated a senior business IT consultant to lead the project, who consigned internal Marathon resource as required to provide expert input and analysis.
Benefits/Outcomes
