Bramble Hub and Cadcorp win contract to provide the RCUK with a Geographic Information System
Background
UK Shared Business Services Ltd (UK SBS) supports the seven Research Councils of the UK (RCUK) with the procurement of two major categories – construction and research across Government. Each year the Research Councils invest around £3 billion in research covering the full spectrum of academic disciplines from the medical and biological sciences to astronomy, physics, chemistry and engineering, social sciences, economics, environmental sciences and the arts and humanities. There was a need to have access to a Geographical Information System (GIS) which allows geo-spatial analysis and scenario building for existing and proposed estate changes.
The Requirement
The estates team was seeking to procure a GIS which will enable visualisation of existing data. In addition to visualising the data in a geo-spatial form, the GIS must be able to cut off from the data solution and allow the user to move buildings, routing tools and other analytical tools to analyse data and evidence estate rationalisation and moves. HR, Payroll, Demographic and other DATA sets can be used to inform estate decisions. To be able to view Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings for each building, occupation and floor so that space utilisation analysis can occur.
Our Success
Bramble Hub and our partner Cadcorp were selected to provide their GIS requirements. UK SBS took into account the flexible approach to the implementation and the wide range of successful projects already undertaken. The solution also had the ability to grow with the number of data sets as they were incorporated into the requirement.
